Muscle force fundamentals is a non-assessed scientific workshop that is focused upon the mechanics and physiology of skeletal muscle force production and its consequences.  This full day workshop costs £120 and includes refreshments throughout the day.  

Scheme of Work  

in the morning: some physiology

• how muscle is organised to produce force
• how muscle is stimulated to produce force
• how muscle force is produced

at mid-day: some physics

• estimation of isometric muscle stress I
• moments and levers
• estimation of isometric muscle stress II

after lunch: putting it all together

• muscle activity and joint loading, showing the mathematics and demonstrating their effects using an instrumented hing-joint model.
